Saturday's moon expected to be super

It's not lunacy: The full moon that rises in the east at sunset today really will be bigger than normal.

Some are calling it a "super moon." That's a bit of a stretch, said Dean Regas, outreach astronomer for the Cincinnati Observatory, although it will be the biggest moon since the first year of the Clinton administration.

"Every 18 years, it comes to its closest point to the Earth," Regas said. "This time it happens to be a full moon at the same time, so that makes it a little rarer."

It will appear 14 percent bigger than the moon at its furthest distance from Earth, he said. That's probably not enough for casual observers to notice.

Still, there's an excellent chance local moon gazers can get a good look. The forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies tonight.

The most dramatic view will come when the moon is near the horizon. For reasons that aren't well understood, Regas said, "whenever the moon's low in the sky, it seems bigger to your brain."

Moonrise will be about 02:05 a.m of Indonesia. The observatory has a private event scheduled, so he suggested that people seek a clearing with good view to the east.

so... let's check this out..

don't missed this wonderful every 18 years phenomena..
